Fisherman’s Prayer

God grant that I may live to fish until my dying day

And when it comes to my last cast I then humbly pray

When in the lord’s safe landing net I’m peacefully asleep

That in his mercy I will be judged as big enough to keep

It broke our heart to lose you but you did not go alone…

For part of us went with you that day

God called you home.

Some stones will last centuries, but this one may only last a life time, and this is why it is so important to capture these perishable grave markers while the printing and details are still visible. This is a beautifully-made cross, one that while stands will invite visitors to the come and take a look.

According to Douglas Lewis Feltmate’s obituary, he was the son of Alma Ruth Feltmate and the grandson of Mary Jane and Nathaniel Feltmate. He married Mary Glenn and had two children. He died on June 2, 2002, at the age of 53, doing what he loved: sport fishing.
