Today I added one headstone photograph to the page of St. John’s United Church Cemetery, Liscomb, Guysborough County, NS.
Ida B. Misener: 1914 – 1967
wife of
Charles I. Misener: 1904 – 1988
Charles Irvin Misener was born in 1904 at West Liscomb, Guysborough County, NS, the son of Olive Zoe Pace and Andrew Jeffrey Meisner. According to his marriage record, he wed Ida Belle Hape on July 25, 1932 at Trinity Church, Halifax, NS. Charles was 27 at the time and working as a lighthouse keeper at Liscomb.
Ida Belle Hape was 22 years old when she married and was working as a domestic servant. This was her second marriage, and her maiden name was Pace. She was born at Liscomb, the daughter of Maud B. Pye and James I. Pace.
Ida first married John Everett Rex Hape on October 26, 1929 at Brooklyn, Queens County, NS. She was 20 years old and working as a housekeeper while living at Beach Meadows, Queens County. John was 21 years old, living at Ecum Secum and working as a fisherman. He was the son of Annie Joris and Arthur Hape of Ecum Secum. I could not find a death record for John, so it’s uncertain where and when he died.
According to Charles’ obituary, he died February 5, 1988 at St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke, Guysborough County, NS. He was 83 years old at the time. He had spent 35 years tending the Liscomb Island lighthouse.
